Celebrities do love air travel and many of you think that stars travel only on first class. It’s true that there are famous actors actresses, musicians who always fly on first class or even own private jets to travel on their own. But surprisingly there is also a number of celebrities who choose to travel on the cheapest business class or even be premium economy and get advantage of the low prices of these flights.
Private jets, business class or economy flights
Although they are stars, they have jobs and tasks to do too. Actors regularly fly with their whole families on business, models travel for shoots and fashion shows. Famous people fly frequently so it’s understandable that they may also want to cut back on their air travel expenses.
Despite the fact that they are super rich and some of them can afford private jets, celebrities don’t always require five-star luxury all the time. Because they receive constant attention by their fans and the media every day, some celebrities try to hide their identity a bit by dressing down, wearing sunglasses and plain style clothing.
Not all celebrities choose to fly on private or first class and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars. A large part of them travel on business and premium economy and many choose the budget-friendly option to travel even on economy class. So there is a high chance that you may meet a celebrity during your flight.
But many celebrities don’t have that mindset and they don’t care about the ticket price. They choose convenience over five-star comfort and reputation.
Being a celebrity requires you to maintain a certain status and show your are rich by traveling on first class flights. But this is not always true.
We show you some of the world’s celebrities who were spotted on business class:
Brad Pitt is truly one of our favourite actors and by traveling on business class he sets up an example for us that the fact you are rich doesn’t mean that you should always choose luxury air travel.
When they were together Brad and Angelina have been often spotted flying on economy class with their kids. Brad shows us there is nothing wrong in traveling in a simple and cheap way the majority of people travel.
This may come as surprise but the beautiful Hollywood actress often flies on regular coach class flights. She flies often with her daughter James and when Jimmy Fallon interviews her she says that she doesn’t like traveling on regular economy pretty much.
The famous rapper was spotted on business class despite his fame of leading a luxurious lifestyle. Despite having a private jet, P Diddy can be often seen flying on business class like the rest of us.
Infographics by SimplyBusinessClass.com: Stars that love business class flights
This actress who owns many awards and stars in Batman v Superman movie has been often seen flying on business class. Once she traded her seat on a first class flight with a US soldier. When asked why she did this she said that she had always wanted to travel on standard economy.
The supermodel doesn’t mind flying on business class and making a compromise with the level of luxury. It’s obvious that she tries to blend in with the crowds as much as she can.
Another one of our favourite action movie actors who doesn’t mind traveling in a cheap and convenient way. He has an estimated net worth of $25 million which makes him able to afford a private jet travel. Despite this fact the actor tries to blend in with the other business class travelers. The actor doesn’t demonstrate a lavish lifestyle. His clothes aren’t fancy too, he travels wearing jeans with a dark top or a hoodie.
The famous couple has been spotted recently on an business flight to Europe which may be considered as a sign that they are currently trying to reduce their travel expenses.

If you are a pet owner and want to travel on an airplane, then it’s certain that you will want to bring your beloved pet with you. Pets can travel on business class but there are certain rules you need to follow and apply some useful tips.
Sometimes is not possible to bring your pet on the business class cabin on some international flights because there isn’t space under the seat in front of your seat to place your pet.
You can travel with a small cat or dog on business class flights. Rules related to traveling with pets on an airplane vary depending on the air company. These rules should be followed so that your air travel with your pet is both safe and pleasant. But there are some uniform rules that didn’t change often.
So here are the rules for those who want bring their pet on business class:
Book your flight over the phone. It’s recommended to do it 14 days because each airplane has a limited number of pet slots.
Make a separate reservation for your pet
It’s important to make the reservation of your pet’s flight soon after you have booked your flight. It should be done at least 48 hours before your flight.
Check in at the airport desk
Arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before your scheduled departure time because pet check-in require some time.
You can bring a total of two pets on domestic business class and first class fights. Some airline companies allow up to 4 pets per flight if they fly in the main cabin while other allow up to 7 pets per flight.
Your cat should be 8-weeks old.
Some airline companies don’t allow you to sit in an exit/emergency row or on a seat that doesn’t have storage space under it when you are traveling with pets.
The carrier for your cat flight should agree with the following IATA rules for traveling with pet on an airplane.
The total weight of your pet and kennel/carrier combined should not be over 75 kg (165 lbs).
Two adult animals that are similar in size each weighing up to 14 kg (30 lbs), can travel together in 1 kennel. This rule also applies for 3 animals that are up to 6 months old. They should be from the same litter and also weigh up to 14 kg (30 lbs) each.
Some airline companies such as Delta for instance allow you to bring one pet carrier on your business class flight.
If you have female cat with kittens, the company allows you to bring a cat with an unweaned litter if the litter is ten weeks to 6 months old.
You can bring two pets in one carrier if they are of the same species and between 10 weeks and 6 months old.
Pets in general cannot fly on the front of Boeing 787-9 and Boeing 787-10 aircraft.
In the winter season your pet may not travel in the hold on certain aircraft models.
Your cat should be transported in a carrier.
Your pet’s carrier/travel bag counts as one of your carry-on items on the airplane.
So, these are the specific requirements that carriers for pets should meet. One of them is that the carrier should be leak-proof. Also, your animal shouldn’t be able to escape easily from the carrier/travel bag.
The pet’s carrier should have proper ventilation on both sides. Some air carriers require that the weight of your pet and the carrier should not be more than 20 pounds. So carriers allow the total weight of the pet and the carrier to reach 40 pounds. It’s good to contact your company in advance and ask about this.
When planning your flight, don’t forget to ask your air company staff what is the maximum size for the pet carrier allowed onboard as the size can vary from company to company.
The carrier for your pet should have a standard maximum size of 46 x 28 x 24 cm (L x W x H). It should be enough big so that your pet can stand up, turn around and lie in an easy way. The total weight of your pet, its carrier/kennel or travel bag should be maximum 8kg.
Your pet should be at least 10 weeks old.
Your pet’s carrier should be placed under the seat in front of you.
You are not allowed to let your pet out of the carrier or the travel bag during the flight.
When going from a gate to gate at the airport, your pet should be in the carrier.
You should know that in the case of emergency on business class cabin, airline companies aren’t responsible for the pets’ condition so your pet may not receive immediate medical help.
Some airline companies may not allow pets onboard business class flight if the pets are ill or they have aggressive behavior towards travellers.
Preparation
When traveling on an airplane with your cat, it’s important to be prepared. Before going to the airport take all of your pet’s main documents. Take with you certificates and identification tags in case airport agents require them.
If you plan to travel with your pet on business class, it’s recommended to choose a window or aisle seat.
Make sure to prepare your pet for the flight. Help it get used to the kennel/carrier you are going to carry it in. Your pet should have around 5 days before the flight to do this.
Do not let your cat to drink or eat for 2 hours before departure.
It’s not recommended to tranquillise your pet for the flight. Your pet’s temperature will lower during the flight and your pet will need some time to get used to its new surrounding. Always consult a vet before tranquillising your pet.
Get a health certificate from your vet 10 days before your flight’s departure. This should be done for each flight.
Flight and transfer fees
Some airline companies may require additional fees for traveling with cats and dogs of $75-$200 each way on domestic and international flights depending on the destination.
If you travel with 3 or more pets, remember that in such cases they are categorized as cargo. And because your pet is a check-in baggage, you will have to pay an additional tax of EUR 150 (or USD/CAD 200) for the animal’s care during the transfer.
Some airline companies offer animal hotels on their business class flights, where pets are given food and water and cats get fresh litter boxes.
Traveling in the hold
During your pet’s check-in you should have with you filled out checklist for transporting your pet in the hold. You can choose to take your pet to the check-in desk to be checked like a regular luggage or bring it to a separate cargo drop-off location of the airport.
During the flight the airport staff isn’t usually able to give the pets traveling in the hold food or water. If you have a Persian cat, know that they can have trouble breathing during the flight because of high temperatures and stress.
Most animals with snub noses may not be transported in the hold to avoid health issues for them but they can be put in the cabin or as cargo.
If you want to transport your cat to the hold, its carrier/travel bag needs to meet several rules:
The cat kennel should have a fiberglass or rigid plastic shell. Airlines don’t allow kennels made of wood, metal bars or welded wire mesh.
The kennel’s wheels must be removed before the flight. If they are retractable they must be taken off or blocked with duct tape.
The carrier’s door should be equipped with centralised locking system that fastens the locks at the bottom and at the top of the carrier’s door.
The 2 parts of the kennel must be joined by bolts. A locking system of other type is strictly forbidden by air carriers.
There should be a blanket, newspaper, or other absorbent material on the floor of the kennel.
The kennel must have either two fixed food bowls or one fixed food bowl with compartments for food and water. Most pet shops or specialist shipping agents offer such kind of kennel.
Don’t forget to put a label to the side of the kennel with your cat’s name and feeding instructions written.
The combined weight of your pet and kennel is more than 75 kg (165 lbs).
The cat kennel is larger than 292 cm/115 inch.
To transport your pet as cargo, you should ask your airline’s cargo agent. Your pet isn’t on the same flight as you are.
Prepare your travel documents and health certificates.
Don’forget to plan your pet’s vaccinations, travel documents and other important things in advance.
Contact the embassies of the countries of departure, transfer and arrival to learn which documents are required and what are their rules for flights with pets.
Also, it’s good to check if the authorities of the country you are traveling to allow the transportation of pets as cargo.

Once you realize the many advantages of business class flights you will reconsider booking an economy class flight in the future. You will definitely realize the difference between the two. Before booking your next business class flight, you need to keep some things in mind.
What determines your choice of business class flight?
It’s important to know that each business class is different in terms of offering and number of services. The difference may be in the price, in the route, the air company, the day of the week. The quality of a certain business class varies depending on the airline company.
Price
As there are numerous airlines and options out there, choosing the right business class flight for your needs sometimes isn’t easy. First, you need to determine your budget for air travel. The prices of business class flights often change and you need to check them regularly.
And it may be disappointing to buy a business class ticket which comes usually at a price higher than regular economy and find out it doesn’t have the things you want. You may end up with not so premium air travel experience.
That is why it’s important to determine your specific needs and preferences for comfort when flying, what do you want out of your flight and then research the available options for business class flights. You need to make a careful research to pick up your dream business class flight and guarantee yourself amazing air travel experience.
Our tips here will help you make the right choice of business class flight
Research flights
There is a difference between domestic and international flights. Usually two-cabin airplanes serve domestic flights. They have first and economy class sections.
Check the cabins layout
It’s important to know how the seats are arranged on a given business class cabin. Business class cabins are more quiet than the cabins of the other air travel classes . There are seat maps available online for some air companies.
When you know what type of cabin layout the airplanes of your company have, you can easily decide which business class flight is most suitable for you.
Two important things play an important role when choosing a cabin layout-aisle access and cabin density. The configuration 1-2-1 is considered the best because it offers each passenger a direct aisle access. There are some airlines that offer 1-1-1 configuration as well.
When there is enough space between the seats this enhances the privacy for the passengers. And it’s important to have an aisle access so that you don’t bother the person sitting next to you whenever you need to stand up from your seat.
Check the type of seating
There are different types of business class seats. They come in different designs and shapes depending on the carrier. Air companies always try to improve their business class seats and include new innovative seat designs to meet the growing demands for business class flights.
There are some companies that introduced suites into their business class cabins making the air travel experience of their passengers almost close to this first class flights offer.
There are such types of seat models that become fully flat beds and such that can recline at a certain angle and have a cradle-style design. All business class seats offer more leg room, wide armrests, comfortable head rest, pillows and even blankets for extra comfort.
Check the onboard amenities
Business class flights offer great amenities, entertainment and perks that offer you high level of comfort and convenience during your flight.
Determine your budget
Business class tickets vary in price which is determined by different factors. They can go from $50 to $3,000. The price mainly depends on the airline, length of flight and whether the flight is a transcontinental or intercontinental flight.
If you have a limited budget, it’s natural that you will want to find business class flights at cheap prices. One way to do this is to search the internet. Although most people search for cheap business class flights through flight aggregator websites, the prices listed on these websites are most often not the most affordable ticket prices.
Air companies don’t show their actual lowest prices because they want to avoid creating a situation of a competition for the lowest ticket price among air carriers.
So, it’s a better option to call the airline company and book your ticket. This can win you a discount of around 40-70% off the usual price for a business class ticket.
Some air companies offer you the option to get a free quote. To get it you just need to fill a form where you tell what destination you need to go to. When you submit it, you will get an idea of how much you will save by purchasing a given business class ticket.
What type is your flight?
Consider what type of flight you want and its itinerary? Do you want a non-stop business class flight or a flight with breaks.
International business class flights are served by three-cabin airplanes that have first, business and economy class. So international and domestic business class flights have differences in their prices and set of services.
In fact international business class flights are better than domestic first class flights in terms of service quality. They offer lie-flat seats with enough legroom, armrests. Although business class seats are very comfortable, they are still not at the level of seats on first class international flights.
There are also hybrid flights which combine the characteristics of first and business class flights. They generally offer more services than standard business class and it’s far better than domestic first class flights. And their price is lower than this of first class flights.
Read reviews
You can get a clear idea whether a business class flight is suitable for you by finding reviews about it. The reviews can be related to different aspects of a flight- quality of the seating, food and drinks, airport lounge, business class customer service.

Travel expenses are tax deductible and they are one of the most popular business expenses that are eligible to a tax deduction. They should be business related in order to get a tax deduction. But business travelers are often confused which business trip cost is deductible.
What is a tax deduction for airplane travel?
Tax deduction is a deduction which decreases a person’s tax liability by making his taxable income lower.Tax deduction includes air travel expenses made by the taxpayer during the year and these expenses are made with the purpose to obtain an additional income as a result of the business class travel.
These expenses are the costs you have when you travel far from your home for business purposes. Some of the expenses you make during your business trip are eligible for tax deduction.
Fortunately a part of these travel expenses offer you the opportunity to get considerable business expense deductions. Business related expenses are a subject to different rules. If you are a business traveler, you should follow these rules, otherwise you risk an unpleasant situation when you are audited.
All travel expenses that are made in relation to acquiring and starting a new business can’t get a tax deduction like travel expenses that are made for the purposes of already existing business. But you can classify expenses for starting a business as start-up expenses and some part of them can get tax deduction.
For example, if you are flying on business class together with your spouse, then the travel expenses of your spouse cannot get tax deduction. Their travel expenses can be tax deductible only if the person is an employee of the business.
Business class travel expenses fall in the category of tax deductible expenses. There are some business expenses that are considered tax deductible. Sometimes only half of the price can get a write-off. For example, if some of your business expenses costs 100$,50$ will be a tax that is deductible.
Depending on the circumstances there are several expenses that are tax deductable
Transport
The expenses you have for flying, traveling by bus, train or renting a car is tax deductable. Business class tickets, bus, train ticket costs are deductible. Every type of transport that helps you reach your business meeting or conference for example counts.
Parking tolls and fees also fall in this category. There is also a mileage rate deduction. Every business traveler can deduct 54.5 cents for every mile they drive. It matters whether your travel by a personal vehicle or you use a car rent. Your expense on gas and upkeep of your car are also deductible.
The transportation costs also include local taxi fares or other kind of transportation means between a hotel, station or an airport. The tax deductible transportation can be between one customer to another, from one business location to another and all the tips related to these travels.
Car upkeep includes operating and maintenance of a car, parking tolls and bills, the price for gas, oil, lubricants, car wash and repair bills, spare parts, tires and other.
These expenses also include operation and maintaining house trailers given you are using the house trailer for business. Don’t forget to get a receipt if you have tax rides.
Business dining expenses – your expenses on meals during your business travel can be deducted too. You can get 50% cost deduction for your dining expenses.
Accommodation expenses – some lodging expenses are also tax deductible such as hotel bookings. It’s recommended to ask for an itemized bill upon check-out because some hotel expenses aren’t eligible for tax deduction. These can be mini bar bills or movie rentals.
Luggage charges – your expenses for baggage when traveling on business class are also tax deductible.
Miscellaneous business trip necessities – any business trip includes different types of expenses that a traveler cannot go without. These can be fees for conferences, conventions in other cities and many other things.
Conference expenses – these expenses include conference ticket prices, event registration fees, presentation equipment rental, laundry or dry cleaning expenses for business clothing.
Transportation expenses for samples, sample room costs, display materials
Public stenographer fees
Cleaning and laundry expenses
Computer equipment rental expenses
What you should do in a situation where business travel is combined with personal trip?
It happens sometimes when business activities mix with tourism expenses and that’s natural. IRS (Internal Revenue Service) for example has the goal to find such taxpayers who attempt to classify the expenses of a personal holiday trip that are nondeductible as business related expenses eligible for tax deduction.
Therefore, if you are flying to a place where you are going to perform business activities and personal vacation activities, then the expenses for your travel can get a tax deduction only if the trip is mainly related to your business operations.
One way to decide this is to consider simply how much time is spent on business activities during the business trip and how much is spent on tourism-related activities or instance.
What business class expenses are not tax deductible?
If you are traveling with your whole family on business class, then the travel expenses aren’t tax deductible.
Business travel-related expenses should be reasonable, necessary and common to be tax deductible.
To claim a tax deduction your travel expenses should agree with some business expense requirements
Travel expenses that are too lavish or extravagant aren’t tax deductible. To get a tax deduction, your business trip by plane should be far way and with long duration.
If your business travel expenses are unreasonable. This one depends on your personal assessment of the situation. If you think that some of your business travel expenses are unnecessary for the successful maintenance of your business, then you should not claim them for tax deduction.
It’s not recommended to risk getting caught trying to lower income with questionable business travel expenses during your audition.
There are other conditions regarding air travel tax deduction
All away from home business expenses are eligible to tax deduction. Expenses you make in a home city cannot be tax deductible. Your standard mileage rate and business meals are tax deductible.
More than one business location
For example, if you conduct your business at more than one location, then the total time you spend doing work in each place counts. You should also consider the type of business you have at each location and its level of development.
In a case where you don’t have a regular place or main spot to conduct your business, then you can be categorized as an itinerant. The place where you usually work is your tax home.
In the case of temporary assignments were you work temporarily for your business at a certain location, the tax home doesn’t change. Temporary period is considered a year or less.
It’s recommended to keep all your receipts during your business travel. So, when the time comes to get a tax deduction for your business expenses, you will easily file your receipts.
The last factor that deserves consideration is the relative amount of your income you gain at each of your business locations. You should determine what is your main and most important business location.

But the good news is business class tickets are refundable. This depends on different factors.
What are refundable business class flight tickets?
A passenger can get the money they have paid or ticket on a business class flight if they request a refund within 24 hours after booking.
There are certain fare rules about refundable and non-refundable tickets. Some types of business class flights are fully refundable and some partially refundable but this primarily depends on the air company you have chosen to fly with, the flight’s route and the departure date, if it’s non-stop round-trip ticket.
It also depends on what is the type of business class flight – international or domestic.
Who can get advantage of refundable business class tickets?
Getting a refund is a great option for those of you who want to fly in a budget-friendly way. Refundable flight offer us a practical solution in situations when our travel plan is uncertain.
Also, if you are planning your air travel around events whose dates are flexible and tend to change, refundable flights are perfect for you. They help you make a wise choice about your travel budget.
If your goal is to reach an elite flyer status when flying with your air company, using refundable business class flights is a great idea.
Flying on refundable business class flights helps you acquire bonus miles which you can redeem afterwards or elite qualifying miles. The earned bonus rarely equals the price of refundable flights on business class, by choosing refundable flights you are likely to earn air miles needed for a certain award.
Award flights are refundable too but there are a few conditions for this. The cancellation or change of an award flight most often requires you to pay a fee. It depends on the air company and what is your status level as a passenger.
Those passengers with Premium Platinum status for example should not worry about any charges. But otherwise, if you don’t have an elite passenger status, then you may need to pay a $200 fee depending on the air company. Some companies don’t charge for award flight cancellations.
Refundable flights are ideal for businesses too. As meeting schedules change and business trips get cancelled, companies prefer to purchase refundable business class tickets for their employees. This helps them be flexible with their business travel schedules.
Because some large companies have agreements with air carriers, they decide to buy only unrestricted airfares to get discounts on business class tickets.
The cost of refundable business class ticket can go from a few hundred to thousands of dollars. The cost of a refundable business class flight can be four times higher than the fare a of non-refundable business class flight even if they have the exact same route.
The cost most often depends on the type of the flight, if it’s economy, business or first class flight.
The price of this type of ticket may be high, but it’s way better to pay for one refundable business class ticket rather than to pay for a business class flight you aren’t 100% sure you will be able to board.
Usually the cheapest business class tickets aren’t refundable. But in fact you can request a refund for non-refundable flights within a limited period of time. Another thing which s important to consider before booking a business class flight are your personal needs.
For example, if you are traveling on business, a possibility exists that you are not paying for your business class ticket yourself but your company does this, And in such a case the chance to cancel your business class flight is small.
Therefore in situations like this you may not need a refundable business class ticket. Otherwise, if there is a possibility that you won’t be able to travel on the exact date your business class flight departures, then buying a refundable business class ticket is good idea.
Airplane ticket price is an important factor for many people. But many neglect the possibility of a refund. The biggest reason for this is the fact that refundable business class tickets are usually more expensive than the non-refundable and this makes them unpopular option for air travelers.
Business class tickets aren’t much cheap and you should consider your reasons why you want to travel on business class. Most airline companies offer their passengers the option to choose between refundable an non-refundable airplane tickets.
Here are the things that make business class flights refundable:
Advantages and disadvantages of buying refundable tickets
Advantages
Refundable tickets are suitable for those flyers who are uncertain about their travel plans and know that their flight schedule may change.
By purchasing a refundable business class ticket you avoid the risk of losing your money in the case something happens and you cannot catch your flight or you have a change in your travel plan. Refundable business class fights help you return your ticket money back and avoid penalties if you have an unpredictable schedule.
Some air companies offer their customers full refund policy. This means if you cancel your flight within 24 hours after booking it, your flight ticket will be fully refunded.
Another advantage of refundable business class flights is that you have the opportunity to get a seat upgrade without having an elite traveler status.
Buying a refundable business class ticket brings you a step closer to a business class upgrade. There are some companies that offer their customers the option of an instant upgrade. The condition for this is to buy a full-fare ticket if there are available business class seats.
Disadvantages
Refundable tickets offer great money-saving option for frequent flying business travelers but they have some disadvantages too.
Some airline companies set a fee in order to issue a ticket refund and other have a special cancellation policy. So, if you already have booked a refundable business class flight, you have a certain period of time in which you can ask for a refund.
Your airline company is most likely to grant you a refund, if you are a frequent flyer. So your chance getting your request for a business class flight refund accepted depends also on your relationship with your air company and your status level.
Generally, it’s recommended to always check the business class tickets refund policies of the different air carriers before booking a flight.
It’s recommended to check which airlines offer refundable business class tickets and don’t charge cancellation fees. Check in advance what are the refund policies of the different airlines.
The cancelation fees often range from 75$ to 200$ per passenger. The size of the cancelation fee cost depends on the price of the initial price of the flight as well as the location.
When you can’t get a refundable flight?
If you make a flight cancellation or change after the first 24 hours following the booking, you may be charged a minimum fee of 200$ .
You should know that air companies have different refund policies and refundable tickets aren’t always available. They also offer different fees for business class flight cancellations or changes. For instance, some airlines don’t offer a refund for flights that are booked as a part of a vacation package.
The cancellation fee or change fee for domestic business class flights is 200$ and the same type of fee for international flights can start from 200$ to 500$.
Of you just want to make a change of flight, there will be a difference in the costs of the two flights. Some air companies don’t accept refund requests for regular economy class flights, only for all other air travel classes.

If you are flying on business class you should consider some common issues that can come up when you choose to travel on business class flights.
Each carrier offers a unique set of services on their business class flights and business class is more than just comfortable plush seats that offer more space. Besides technological amenities like touch screens some airlines offer slippers, sleeping suits, luxury sets of amenities, cosmetics, pajamas, wash bags on their business class flights.
Is an upgrade to a business class really worthy?
Business class offers very passenger a sense of exclusiveness and a unique experience. If you can afford it , then you should not hesitate to book a seat on a business class flight.
You definitely won’t regret it. Otherwise economy and premium economy class are also a good option for those who want a budget-friendly air travel.
What are the common obstacles when booking a business class flight?
You should know that business class isn’t for everyone so consider these cons of traveling on business class before booking your next flight.
Overbooked flights
During your air travel you will certainly come across business class flights that are fully booked. Because there is a big competition for better seats, you will find yourself urged to book way in advance.
Remember that the fact you have chosen to travel on business class doesn’t mean that you will arrive earlier at your destination than the rest of the passengers. Business class flights only offer you the advantage of be among those who first get on board and leave the plane.
High ticket price
Another main disadvantage of flying on business class is the price of course. Depending on the air carrier some business class flights fall in the category of luxury travel and you need to have your reasons to want to fly on this travel class.
Premium services are available on business class flights and that is why this travel class is so expensive. A ticket for a business class flight can cost three or four times more than a ticket for an economy class. Unless you use air miles or get advantage of special business class flight deals.
And sometimes this additional expense for air travel isn’t worth making if you don’t actually need the services offered on business class. So consider your specific needs and decide whether you really need to splurge on a business class ticket. Business class flights can be costly and that is why we need to make research in advance for some discounted business class flights or sales.
Flight duration doesn’t change
If your flight has a considerably short duration, then paying for a business class flight isn’t much of a budget-friendly option. Remember that not all business class flights are the same and the services they offer vary from a company to a company. The services on business class flights also vary depending on the type of flight(if it’s domestic or international) and the choice airline company.
Not a kids-friendly place
If you are going on a family trip and taking your kids with you, business class flights may not be the best option for you. Solo travelers are the most common users of business class services as they use the advantage of having personal space and the ability to work in a quiet and peaceful environment.
As its name suggests, business class is created mainly for business travelers who fly long hours and want a comfortable and peaceful spot that will allow them to rest during the flight and even get some work done.
If you want to travel with your kids on business class, consider whether they can behave for a few hours, be quiet and don’t cause disturbance to the other passengers. For example, a couple is more likely to enjoy the convenience of business class travel than a family with four kids.
Unnecessary for short duration flights
Business class is an excellent option for long haul flights as the super comfortable lie-fat seats it features allows you to catch on your sleep as you fly.
The seats that become beds and the variety of amenities make any long flight more bearable and add up to the whole pleasant travel experience. They have wider arm rests, leg rests and more legroom in comparison to the seats on premium economy and third class.
But if your flight isn’t going to be long haul then the investment in a business class ticket isn’t going to pay off.
Flight disruption
Flying on business class doesn’t give you insurance against delays. Flight disruption means that your flight is delayed and you arrive at your destination couple of hours later than the scheduled arrival time.
But fortunately passengers of delayed flights get a compensation of up to 600€ by the airline company according to EU Regulation 261/2004. This compensation is not a refund. It’s not accessed on the basis of the ticket price and it’s a fixed sum.
The truth is you can have bad travel experience at any travel class. As it happens with all technology appliances, touchscreens can either fail to work properly or they are folded back by the cabin crew at a given moment.
And this moment can be right when you are watching a movie. So what’s the point of having a TV screen on your seat which you cannot watch? And don’t forget the fact that some TV screens on business class aren’t visible when the seat is reclined.
Not enough storage space
Many of you will agree that having a personal spot to store your belongings is an important detail during any flight. Every person brings some stuff with them on the plane.
Individual lockers for your clothes, baggage, travel essentials, headphones, etc.-these should be available in business class seating.
As business class is considered one of the best types of luxury air travel, it’s necessary to provide you with plenty of storage space. But sometimes business class flights doesn’t offer much storage space for the passengers.
Besides storage, you can’t be always happy with the design of the business class seats too. Not all business class seats are made equal. Some have little trays for drinks that stick out and are placed at inconvenient spots creating more discomfort than convenience.
Seats that aren’t upgraded
Another possible downside of being on a business class flight is that you can find the seats aren’t truly matching the new business class seat standards. You may come across a company that didn’t got their seats upgraded and they are old technology.
The seats may go from one position to another too quickly-sitting, reclining, lying, and you may find trouble in setting your seat to your desirable position quickly and easily.
Having the option to rest your feet on a leg rest during a long flight is great, but if this leg rest is too small then it’s not so comfortable having your feet squeezed in a tight space. At some business class flights you can find that leg rests of the seats were in fact created for small kids.
Not too quick baggage handling
Most airline companies offer fast baggage handling and fast track security but the speed of these services varies from company to company.
Stares
When you are boarding the airplane first, you are very likely to get some stares from other passengers who are traveling on economy class and waiting in line. Unlike them, you don’t need to wait and you can get on board way before them, take your upgraded seat and enjoy a glass of champagne.
Using the tech amenities
Due to cases of theft in the past, airline companies decided to increase the security control over the offered technologies on board.
Business class flights feature latest headphone models which are quite expensive and for this reason flight attendants keep an eye on the passengers and their actions.
Everyone who uses the headphones for too long can be seen as a potential thief. But sometimes this overprotection can make you feel like a criminal despite the fact that you just want to enjoy your music during the flight. This can really spoil your overall experience on business class.

If you are a frequent flyer in general, then you are likely to miss a flight if you haven’t already done it. Missing a flight may be caused by a variety of factors which may depend or not depend on us. It can happen to anyone but it’s not something you cannot find solution to.
When it comes to business class flights, missing your flight will truly put you in a bad mood but there are some tactics you can use to improve your situation.
It’s certainly not a pleasant experience to miss a business class flight given the considerable prices for business class tickets. But what is the best thing to do in such a situation? The key is to reach your final destination without much expenses.
So you have missed your business class flight? Don’t worry because we will offer you here some helpful tips.
Calm down and call your airline company
If you are traveling to the airport and you think you won’t be able to arrive in time to catch your flight, call your airline. No matter where you are, contact immediately your air company’s customer service if possible. Explain the reason why you have missed your flight.
If you are not at the airport at this time, you can contact your airline company either through their website or their local number. In this way you will be able to contact more quickly your ticketing representative or gate agent. This will save you more time than deciding to call the air carrier’s main number that is written on the ticket.
By doing this you can be charged some change fee and if the ticket fare has increased, you may need to pay the difference in the price. Make sure to make the phone call as early as possible to avoid paying high price to get a ticket rebooking.
If you are in the airport when your flight closes, go to the ticketing counter or talk with the gate agent. Politeness is key when talking with the agents as the outcome of the situation is mostly in their hands. Tell them about your case of missed flight. They should explain to you what possible options you have.
You can be put on stand-by until the other available flight on the same day and in some cases on the next day.
If you have already checked in, passed through security but didn’t make it on time for your flight, then your situation is more serious. You need to exit that airport area because it’s a secure and restricted zone.
At this moment you should find an information desk if you can or contact the ground staff of your airline company. If your baggage is checked too, this means you were offloaded and then you need to make a reclaim.
If you have already went through migration, then this means you have officially exited the country. As you want to enter it again, then you need to pass again through migration.
The good news is that if you have paid high price to your ticket, the airline company is more likely to forgive your missed flight and the result will be to our favor. Another thing that determines the outcome of the situation is whether you bought the ticket from the air company or from an online travel agent.
If you have purchased your business class ticket directly from the company, they can rebook you a seat on the next flight that is available. Most of us don’t buy the most expensive refundable tickets, but we have to try our luck. Sometimes the change fee can be waived for non-refundable tickets.
Some airline companies will charge you a fee for re-booking your ticket but that’s rare. And this depends on the cost of the original business class ticket.
The change fee can go up to 200$ and be even higher for international flights. You may also need to pay the price difference in the price if the flight’s price has increased since the moment you bought your original business class ticket. A timely call can save you this.
If you have used a discount carrier, the price for the re-booking may be higher than the price of your original business class ticket. But if you compare it to the price you are going to pay for a last-minute ticket, it will be cheaper.
Determine the reason for missing your flight
Remember that the check-in staff have heard all types of explanations of why someone missed their flight so they no longer give it much consideration. But they do appreciate timely action from your side. No matter what has prevented you to catch your flight on time, the flight attendants are likely to give you an eye roll when you explain it to them.
An airline company won’t change its flight schedules only because someone missed their flight. But they will be willing to rebook your flight. The idea is that the following flight schedules don’t get confused and all the passengers are happy.
Flat tyre rule
This is one of the unwritten rules of airline companies part of their official policies which they apply for cases when a passenger misses their flight. This rule isn’t published officially and thanks to it passengers are not always made to pay large sums of money when they miss their flight.
So, one reason for a missed flight will help you gain the compassion of the flight attendants and bring your situation to a successful resolution.
If you have problems with your transport to the airport, you can tell the check-in desk staff that your ride a flat tyre during your trip to the airport. The time just has to be reasonable. Arriving within two hours after the missed flight time is considered fine.
It’s also recommended to arrive at the airport not too late after the flight departure. By doing all of the above mentioned things you have a high chance that the airline staff will re-book you a seat on the next flight available given the flight you missed isn’t the last for the day. And you will also save yourself change fees, increases in the fare price or other additional fees the airline my impose on you.
Don’t buy a new one-way ticket
Sometimes buying a new ticket may seem like a good idea since its price will be cheaper than the change fee we need to pay. Buying a new one-way ticket cancels your itinerary. This can be done only if the next flight is the last one from the schedule and you need to catch it.
Call your hotel
If you risk canceling hotel reservation by missing your flight, it’s good to tell the hotel staff about this in advance. This will save you additional charges and prevent transportation employees to wait you at the airport.
What will help you to have your flight re-booked?
Insurance
If you have missed your flight because of reasons that you can’t control such as traffic jam, road accidents, natural disaster, etc., you should ask for help a travel insurer. You can get a financial compensation within a certain time period after the flight departure given you can prove that missing your flight wasn’t in your control. Getting help from a travel insurer will help you get another ticket on the net business class flight at the least expense.
Membership in frequent flyers club
It will really help if you have an elite status as a member of the frequent flyers club of your airline company. Being a frequent business class flyer can add up to your advantage in a case of missed flight.
Don’t hesitate to tell your airline’s gate agents that you have a frequent flyer status as this can be helpful. By mentioning this fact you can pass more quickly through some of the gate lines when trying to get on board in the last minute.
Connecting flight
If by missing your original flight, you also miss a connection, you should contact your gate agent or phone operator. For example, if you got on board your original flight but you missed the connecting flight, most air companies will put you on standby until the next flight. In such a case make sure to call the airport’s baggage claim and notify them to store your checked baggage until you can manage to get them.
Discount carrier
A common practice of airline companies is to cancel the connecting flights that are on the same booking. So if you missed your business class flight, you should tell your airline company’s staff that you didn’t border the connecting flight.
Charter flight
The last option for you is to choose a charter flight.
Tips to follow if you don’t want to miss your flight
Arrive at the airport at least 2 hours earlier than the scheduled departure time. This gives you some time to get through any obstacles or unplanned situations you may experience before the flight and still be able to catch it
Keep all the important contacts you may need in the case if you miss a flight in your phone. Besides the air company’s main number these can include also the gate agent’s number, membership hotline number. Needless to say, a full phone battery is a must-have
Try not to park if possible. Finding free airport parking lots takes time and depending on the traffic, sometimes it can be a real struggle
Ask a friend to drop you at the airport, hail a cab or use Uber services
